Just a few thoughts...

I really enjoy watching this show, even more than I did last year. The characters have grown and the show has found it's own look and feeling. I thought it would be more difficult to watch it on Friday nights but it's actually easier.

I'm also strangely captivated by a possible relationship between Reese and her new captain, Tidwell. He's made it obvious he's interested in her but she really isn't protesting as much as I thought she would. I keep thinking if she was uninterested she would have already punched him in the face.

But no more of Charlie's ex-wife. I'm sick of that situation and I'm hoping he'll drop her and move on.

Life has a wacky schedule for a few weeks, alternating between Mondays and Fridays. I don't agree with this scheduling, I don't think all viewers will follow the show back and forth like that, and Fridays is also known to be a killer timeslot for some series.

Episode 2.01 Find Your Happy Place (Monday, September 29, 2008)

Episode 2.02 Everything...All the Time (Friday, October 3, 2008)

Episode 2.03 The Business of Miracles (Monday, October 6, 2008)

Episode 2.04 Not for Nothing (Friday, October 10, 2008)

Episode 2.05 Crushed (Friday, October 17, 2008)

Episode 2.06 Did You Feel That? (Friday, October 24, 2008)

Episode 2.07 Jackpot(Friday, October 31, 2008)

Episode 2.08 Black Friday (Friday, November 7, 2008)

More information about the upcoming season...

Firefox News has a good summary of some of the information about Life from the past few months:

Some highlights from the article:

"In March, Kristin Dos Santos from E! reported that "Life" was adding a new cast member, police captain Brian Tidwell. "I'm hearing he's a rough-around-the-edges hottie. Apparently he's got a thing for sports betting, whiskey and women," Dos Santos said. She also confirmed that Christina Hendricks, best-known as "Saffron" on FOX's "Firefly" and Joan on AMC's "Mad Men", would be returning in Season Two as Charlie's future stepmother, Olivia. When we ever meet Charlie's father is one thing. Clearly, though, Adam Arkin's Ted has a thing for her. Rand Ravich was quoted as saying that, "We love Christina in so many different ways. She's great in the show. Yes, she'll absolutely be back. I'm looking at her character's name on my board right now."

Subsequently, in a press release on April 2, NBC confirmed that Brian Tidwell would be Charlie and Danni's new supervisor, and that he would be played by Donal Logue. Logue is most famous for his sitcoms FOX's "Grounded For Life" and ABC's "Knights of Prosperity", and for his appearances on VH-1's "I Love the 80s" specials. He also has experience in dramatic roles, however, in movies such as "Zodiac" and "The Patriot" and TV series like "ER" and "The Practice". Brian Tidwell is, like Charlie, a bit of an outsider, having transferred to Los Angeles from New York City.

The question is what this news means for Robin Weigert's Lt. Karen Davis, Charlie's supervisor in Season One. There has been no word yet as to her future on the series. Possibly Davis is being punished for taking the side of Crews over that of Jack Reese and his fellow conspirators. Considering Weigert does not appear to have any other roles in TV or film on the horizon, my sense is that she is not leaving the show.

In the current issue of TV Guide, executive producer Ravich states that "Charlie Crews will realize that his journey has only just begun . . . the conspiracy is bigger and closer to home than he could have ever imagined." This would seem to lend further weight to my suspicion that Jack Reese has allies within the District Attorney's office. It also casts suspicion on characters like Crews' still-unseen father, and his seemingly cleared former partner Officer Stark.

In its April 2 press release, NBC will be giving "Life" an aggressive relaunch in the Fall, including an expansion of the "Life" website at NBC.com to include an "interactive prison timeline giving the fans a chance to see what happened while Charlie Crews was incarcerated", a new conspiracy wall, and a "Life" Wiki. Nothing spells "inaccuracies", "misleading", and "potential source of disputes" like W-I-K-I.

"Life" will need to be promoted aggressively as it is being moved to a potentially deadly time slot, Fridays at 10 P.M. Fridays and Saturdays are historically low-rated nights. However, that also means weaker competition and, one hopes, lower expectations for a series which could have easily not survived its first season."

Donal Logue is Captain Brian Tidwell

"Joining the cast of "Life" is Donal Logue ("Grounded for Life") as Captain Brian Tidwell, Crews' (Damian Lewis) and Reese's (Sarah Shahi) new boss. Tidwell is a seen-it-all New York cop whose weaknesses include the track and the ladies. He isn't going to fit in Los Angeles, and he could care less."

Hey people! I noticed that there weren't any fanfics so I thought maybe I'd pitch an idea. Here goes nothing...
Felicia Johnson doesn't fit in at her job as a sketch artist for the LAPD. She's constanly changing her hair color, likes to play corny chick music, and has a tendency to be eccentric. Most of her coworkers think she's a little crazy...except for Charlie Crews. The Zen detective seems to understand everything she does even things that don't make sense to her. He just might be the one to help her figure out seriously screwed up life.
Tell me what you think. Too cheesy, too typical. Let me know. -Paige

New community for Life!

Oct. 7th, 2007 | 11:23 pm
posted by: sammys_clown in lifeforcharlie

If you are here then you have found a community for the new series Life. The show premiered on September 26, 2007 on NBC and shows at 9:00 Central time and 10:00 Eastern.

The show stars Damian Lewis as "Detective Charlie Crews", a cop who was just released from prison after serving time for a crime that he, of course, did not commit. Others on the show are Sarah Shahi (Detective Danni Reese), Adam Arkin (Ted Earley), Brooke Langton (Constance Griffiths), Robin Weigert (Lieutenant Karen Davis), Brent Sexton (Bobby Starks).

Here is what one site, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_%28US_TV_series%29, said about the show:

"Life is the story of Detective Charlie Crews, who has recently been released from prison after DNA evidence exonerated him for a front-page murder eleven years earlier. He's been reinstated to the police force, and received a substantial settlement from the state for his troubles. While in jail, technology has passed him by, as evidenced by his unfamiliarity with the now-everyday things like tiny cell phones, instant messaging, etc. He's been assigned to partner with Dani Reese, who's not in the best of graces with her superiors either. Their mutual lieutenant is looking for a reason to get rid of Crews, and as she has a reason to get rid of Reese, is subtly blackmailing her with expulsion to find such a reason. Crews, meanwhile, is trying to readjust to life outside prison, but is also pretty focused on solving the murder that he was imprisoned for - or more precisely, finding out who framed him for it."

Damian Lewis is an English actor but you may remember him from the Stephen King movie, Dreamcatcher in which he played the part of "Jonesy". His other films include An Unfinished Life, Chromophobia, Nyfes, and Keane.

Sarah Shahi may be remembered as "Sonya" on The Sopranos. Supernatural fans may recognise her as the "Woman in White" from the pilot show. She's also appeared in Legally Blonde 2 and Damages as well as guest-starring on numerous TV shows including Alias and Dawson's Creek.

Adam Arkin has played on Northern Exposure, Chicago Hope, and many guest-starring roles on other TV programs. His films include Hitch and Halloween H2O.

Brooke Langton has starred on Friday Night Lights and Melrose Place. Her films include Primeval and The Replacements.

Robin Weigert is probably best known for portraying "Calamity Jane" on Deadwood. She's guested on numerous television shows over the years.

Brent Sexton also was on Deadwood.

You may post anything about the series: discussions, questions, links, fanfiction, pictures, icons, artwork, and summaries of the shows. Please be courteous to other members and abide by LJ's rules. Put long posts, large pictures, or spoilers behind and LJ cut. Give appropriate warnings or ratings when needed. Have fun!
